Isolated pad: bearing pressure, bending in two directions, beam shear and punching (3.11).
Tool: Education preview · Lesson: In preparation · Example: Built awaiting check · Workbook: Not applicable · Assessment: Not started
Outstanding before release: Engineering checker to verify clause mapping against BS 8110 (Parts 1 and 2) and sign off v0.1.0. Cross-checked against TCC RCC81 Foundation Pads v4.2 (see evidence).

"Primary" marks the governing clause for this exercise; "contextual" marks related clauses; "supporting" marks the design-method or data source outside the CDC. A CDC chapter mapping does not mean the CDC contains the equation used.

Calculator
Purpose: Bearing pressure, bending reinforcement in both directions, beam shear and punching for an isolated rectangular pad.
Model: Rigid pad, linear contact pressure, full contact required. Net service pressure = (Gk + Qk)/A + (γc − γs)H ± Mx/Zx ± My/Zy. ULS net upward pressure from 1.4Gk + 1.6Qk and moments (self-weight excluded from bending/shear).
Units: N, mm, kN, kNm; stresses in N/mm² Ranges: fcu 25–50 N/mm²; fy 250 / 460 / 500; βb 0.7–1.0
Equations: q(x) = P/A + M·x/I (ULS, net of self-weight) ; M_face = B ∫ q(x)(x − cx/2) dx over the cantilever (worse side) ; As from 3.4.4.4 with b = full width ; V at d from face: B ∫ q dx beyond the section; v ≤ vc (no enhancement — conservative) ; Punching: u = 2(cx + cy) + 12d; V = P − (P/A)(cx + 3d)(cy + 3d); Veff = V + 1.5|Mx|/(cy + 3d) + 1.5|My|/(cx + 3d)
Clauses: 3.11.2.2 (moments at column face); 3.11.3 (pads: design moment, distribution, shear); 3.4.4.4; Table 3.25; 3.4.5 / Table 3.8 (vc); 3.7.7 (punching at 1.5d; face 0.8√fcu); 2.4.3 / Table 2.1 (load factors)

Not covered: Wind loads and other combinations; horizontal column shears; Eccentric column position; partial contact (uplift); Combined/strip foundations, pile caps; Shear reinforcement in bases; Settlement and geotechnical capacity (allowable pressure is a user input)
